1. Beat the heat
- Schedule the ceremony for late afternoon/golden hour when possible.
- Add evaporative coolers or AC-ready tents for summer dates.
- Provide shade and fans for cocktail hour.
- Set out a hydration station.
2. Light it for after sunset
Desert evenings get dark fast. Bistro and string lighting instantly warms a space, while up-lighting and marquee letters add drama.
3. Plan for wind & monsoon season
- Choose professionally installed, anchored tents.
- Add sidewalls you can drop if wind picks up.
- Secure lightweight decor and signage.
- Have a rain/wind backup plan for July-September.
4. Backyard vs. venue logistics
Backyard weddings need more infrastructure: power (generators), restrooms, parking and a level tent area. Venues may restrict vendors and end times – confirm early.
5. Permits & HOA notes
Some Valley cities and HOAs have rules on tents, amplified sound and end times. Check with your city and HOA, and whether large tents need a permit.
